In late July we at CLIMB were graced by the presence of Dr. Peng Chen from Clemson University. Dr. Chen is a newly appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at Clemson University, who was recently brought on board as a new Service Partner. During his visit, Dr. Chen met with graduate students and postdocs from our TRD labs to discuss their research and the various ways that he can utilize label-free optical technologies developed at CLIMB in his own work to advance musculoskeletal disease research and clinical translation. We are especially excited to support his work with our latest mesoscale quantitative phase imaging system, which enables long-term monitoring of cell cultures and large-scale high-resolution tissue mapping. The visit was exceptionally fruitful, and we hope this will be the first of many. We look forward to building a strong collaborative partnership with Dr. Chen, as well as Dr. Hai Yao, the director of the South Carolina Translational Research Improving Musculoskeletal Health (SCTRIMH) center. This visit also marked an important step toward strengthening collaboration with Clemson University via SCTRIMH.
