CLIMB affiliates at the NASEM Cancer Engineering Workshop in DC

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine held a one and a half day workshop in May that examined “the emerging field of cancer engineering” and also considered “opportunities to improve patient outcomes through the convergence of engineering with oncology practice, research, and policy.” CLIMB’s TRD-1 co-lead and Director of the Cancer Center at Illinois, Professor Rohit Bhargava, co-chaired the planning committee. The roster of speakers featured CLIMB collaborative partner Professor Samuel Achilefu from the University of Texas Southwestern, as well as Professor Rashid Bashir, the Dean of the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois, and also one of our Internal Advisory Board members.
