CLIMB's new Collaborative Partner, Professor DK Kang, recently received $2.4 million from the National Cancer Institute to develop a noninvasive, confocal microscope to examine nerve endings of cancer patients with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy and identify potential biomarkers for the disease. DK's lab has pioneered low-cost confocal microscopy in the last several years. By demonstrating that noninvasive microscopy can be built at low cost, his team has made the technology significantly more accessible in a wide variety of clinical settings.
