Between May 28th and June 7th, the Center held its annual summer school, where grad students and postdocs from all over the world had the opportunity to come to campus and learn about the principles of biophotonics, featuring lectures on cutting-edge research, as well as practical and clinical applications. Summer school students were also able to acquire some hands-on experience in the lab, where they learned about the fundamentals of optics, quantitative phase imaging, clinical and in vivo imaging, and computational imaging. Speakers included local faculty from Illinois, as well as the University of Illinois Chicago, and Washington University in St. Louis. The summer school also welcomed speakers from industry, from GSK, NVIDIA, Volk Optical, and Light Conversion. These speakers offered students a valuable, distinct perspective on the applications of biophotonics.
